Sammy was a giant. He really only stood about 5’ 3”, but when you hear his voice you’d think he was 10’ tall. Frank was the chairman, Dean had the looks… but Sammy was the heart and soul of the Rat Pack. I still think he was the best dressed of the crew. Considering his height and frame, he knew how to dress to his strengths; even in the 70’s with the popularity of those god-awful flared trousers, he kept it slim and chic.
We always talk about hip-hop and rock stars being stylish today… but today most artists (yes, even “fashionista” Kanye and “iconic” Ryan Gosling) have stylists who help dress them and designers who give them clothes for free. Sammy (and the rest of his generation for that matter) did it all themselves. There’s a reason why G.O.O.D. Music wear those black Italian suits. Some things never go out of style. Just ask Sammy, I’m sure he’ll let you know.
